On any given day you can find me stalking the paint section at the hardware store. This is how I get my fix. On this particular day, I overheard a woman asking the sales associate to help her choose a Peach color. I watched as the sales associate walked over to the warm pink color swathes and pulled out Valspar Peach Burst. She handed it to the woman and walked away. I saw the puzzled look on her face. I asked her if I could assist in finding her a “real peach” color.
Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so is color. What might be peach to someone else might be coral to you. Does it matter, probably not. What is important is finding the color that makes you happy to live with, one that pleasantly mingles with the space that it shares.
Now back to my story….. I chose Valspar Peach Tart and handed it to her. She was thrilled but confusion quickly set in. The two colors were so different, she knew which one she liked but would it look good in the space? I offered to follow her home to see the space where she wanted her “Peach color”.
So what was the final outcome? After seeing her guest room with beautiful light wood furnishings I suggested Benjamin Moore Soft Marigold to envelop the room. It is one of my go-to oranges that is easy to live with. She called me later to tell me that the room turned out beautiful and that she couldn’t be happier!
That was the day that my life changed and I decided to turn my long-time passion for color into a career.
In my blog, I will be sharing the trials and tribulations on my journey to build a new home. I will also be posting photos of homes both inspiring and examples of what NOT to do.
